Instrument Donation Drive

FTLOJ is looking for gently used band and orchestra instruments, which we then give to the Washoe County School District. If you have an instrument you are willing to donate, please email FTLOJ President, Bob Peterson: peterson@unr.edu A board member will pick up the instrument and give you a tax deductible receipt for it.

It's "big-band jazz times two" when the Carson High Jazz Band and the Mile High Jazz Band (MHJB) present their seventh annual joint concert, the Mile High-Carson High Jazz Extravaganza, on Friday, January 15, 2010, 8:00 p.m., at the Brewery Arts Center (BAC) Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street, Carson City.  The concert is a benefit for the Carson High Band programs. Tickets are $12 general admission, $10 students and seniors, and ! $5 for youth age 12 and under.  Tickets can be purchased in advance from Carson High Band members or at the door.  For information, call the MHJB at 775-883-4154 or see milehighjazz.com.

The New World Jazz Project will be featured Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Enoteca Wine & Jazz Bar, inside of The Siena Casino and Spa in downtown Reno.  They will be starting at 8:00, and it would be frosty kool if you would come out and support some live Soul, Latin & Afro-jazz, from Adult Contemporary to Bebop and beyond. There's no cover, just a cool hang.  Bring a close friend and come, s'il vous plait. . .

DG KICKS BIG BAND - This 17 piece jazz band performs on stage every Tuesday evening from 8PM until 10PM at 3RD STREET located in downtown Reno at 125 West 3rd Street (next to the Eldorado parking garage). The band plays the music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton and Woody Herman among others and features Reno’s preeminent world class jazz musicians. DG KICKS’ sultry and talented vocalist JAKKI FORD is a crowd pleasing featured artist. Dancers are welcome! If you have never visited 3RD STREET you are in for a real treat. The building was erected 100 years ago to be part of Reno’s original downtown marketplace and fresh produce depot. All of the genuine interior architectural elements are intact and beautifully maintained.
