Instrument Donation Drive

FTLOJ is looking for gently used band and orchestra instruments, which we then give to the Washoe County School District. If you have an instrument you are willing to donate, please email FTLOJ President, Bob Peterson: peterson@unr.edu A board member will pick up the instrument and give you a tax deductible receipt for it.

An Evening with John Handy. FTLOJ is pleased to announce that saxophonist John Handy will be performing in a special presentation and lecture for Black History Month on February 24, 2011 at 7:30pm at the Joe Crowley Student Union Theater, UNR.  John Handy is a composer, teacher and performer “who has devoted his life to using music to elevate the human spirit.”  With recordings spanning over 3 decades, his extensive experience with Charles Mingus and “fiery saxophone style” is sure to be enjoyable.  Accompanying Mr. Handy will be David Ake on piano and Hans Halt on bass.
